Student Opportunities

  • Liberty Public Schools is pleased to partner with many area colleges and universities in classroom observation, student teaching, and internship programs. These preparatory experiences are extremely important in the development of future teachers. With this belief as a foundation, the following procedures have been established so that college students and cooperating LPS teachers can provide the best developmental experiences possible.

    CLASSROOM OBSERVATIONS
The placement of college students for the purpose of classroom observation is an agreement made by the college/university placement official and the building-level administrator. Necessary documentation of this process includes written documentation from the college/university stating the following:
    - The purpose of the observation
    - Placement information of individual college students by name
    - The duration of the observation, including dates and times
Since this is only an observation and no college students will work directly with LPS students, an FBI background check or local background check will not be required.

    STUDENT TEACHING AND INTERNSHIPS
Initial requests for student teaching and internship placements should be made by the college/university placement official to Mr. Dee Rosekrans, LPS Human Resources Director. Student teaching/internship candidates will be required to meet with Mr. Rosekrans so that placement and experience options may be examined. If a suitable placement can be made, Mr. Rosekrans will communicate with building-level administration to secure an appropriate cooperative teacher assignment. The placing college/university is then notified of the student's placement. Necessary documentation of this process includes written documentation from the college/university stating the following:
    - Placement information of individual college students by name
    - College expectations of the experience
    - The duration of the experience, including dates and times
Since college students will be working directly with LPS students, an FBI background check will be required. Arrangements for an FBI background check can be made through the placing college/university or through Liberty Public Schools.

LPS is committed to providing the best learning environment possible. This environment includes the continued development of both students and staff. We look forward to continuing our commitment to assist in the processes that create the teachers of tomorrow!
