• Dual Credit

Students have the opportunity to earn high school as well as college-level credit for the following courses offered at the high school level.  Students must meet all qualifications set by the college to receive dual credit.

    Please note:

    1. Students are responsible for making direct contact with all colleges for AP and Dual Credit transfer questions, as our high schools cannot issue transcripts indicating college credit. Students must contact credit-granting institution for this information directly.
    2. The Colleges/Universities retain the right to cancel the Dual Credit Status of courses at either LHS or LNHS at any time. Some courses listed as Dual Credit will be Dual Credit at one high school and not the other, based on requirements set by the cooperating university and potential LPS staff changes.
    3. Students are strongly encouraged to take the ACT prior to the start of dual credit coursework, as this may be required for registration with the college or university.
    4. Students who sign up for Dual Credit must understand they are creating a permanent collegiate record and grades earned in a Dual Credit course impact their high school and college level GPA.
    5. There are other ways students can earn College Credit while in High School: these include the Early College Academy, Collegiate Nursing Academy, and other Off-Campus programs delivered by other school Districts.  Specific questions about college credits available from Northland Center for Advanced Professional Studies, Area Career Center, Northland Career Center, and Summit Tech Academy should be directed to those program sponsors once a student is accepted or during the application process.
    6. Students may also choose to take courses not listed below for college credit at an accredited college or university at their own expense (College Release).  It is highly recommended students meet with their counselor about the potential of receiving high school credit for these courses prior to enrollment to ensure LPS will accept the credit, how much credit a course is worth, and what credit type will be applied towards LPS graduation requirements.  It would be up to the student to send a transcript from the college to the high school in order for LPS to accept the credit.
    7. A note about PLTW classes: PLTW classes are listed below as Dual Credit.  Please note that LPS does not have a Memorandum of Understanding (agreement) with any college/university for these courses.  Instead, numerous college/universities partner with PLTW to grant college credit for these courses in various ways with varying and differing requirements.

Tuition costs are subject to change at any time and there may be additional enrollment fees associated with different Universities.

Please see the list of courses below that are currently approved Dual Credit courses at one or both high schools (and PLTW classes that have the potential to earn college credit in some manner):
