• **UPDATED May 29, 2020**

As the 2019-2020 school year has officially closed, many end-of-year closeout topics have been addressed.  Below you will find a few topics that remain as part of this Frequently Asked Questions page.  Please know that attention has already shifted toward re-entry for the 2020-2021 school year, and we will be providing updates over the course of the summer.

    Meals for Students

Liberty Public Schools is committed to providing access to breakfast and lunch meals for all LPS families with children 18 years and under (as well as purchasing options for adult family members) while the District is closed during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.  It was recently announced the free meals will be extended to students through Tuesday, June 30, 2020.  Detailed information can be accessed on our COVID-19 informational page, or by clicking here.

Commencement Ceremonies & Other District Events

Class of 2020 families have been communicated with several times over the course of the last 9-10 weeks, and July 19, 2020, is currently the date LPS hopes to have commencement ceremonies for both Liberty High School and Liberty North High School.  Families will be updated when more detailed information becomes available.

    Summer School

Following a tremendous response to our summer school survey last week, we can now announce our plan for summer school.  As you likely know by now, with this being such a fluid situation, this plan is always subject to change.  Highlights of the plan include:

    • Our high schools (Grades 9-12) will offer virtual classes for students June 1 - 26, 2020.  This will include online credit recovery opportunities for students.
    • Students entering Kindergarten - 8th  grade will be offered a half-day Virtual Academy.  Two sessions are scheduled for this summer (June 1-26 and July 6-31).  Online curriculum will focus on Project Based Learning, English/Language Arts, and Math.
    • We also hope to offer a traditional half-day face-to-face learning experience for students entering Kindergarten - 8th grade.  This session would take place July 6 - July 31, 2020.   As you likely know, we are in an extremely fluid time period and one that seems to change regularly.  This face-to-face session will only occur if provided clearance and guidance by our local health officials and would likely only be able to accommodate a limited number of students.   If we are able to host this session, families will be provided with specific details on building health and safety procedures leading up to the start of the session.
    • If families have yet to enroll their child(ren) for our summer school program and would like to do so, we encourage you to visit our summer school website, which can be accessed by clicking here.  Additional information regarding our summer school program can also be found at that location.

    Before/After School Care - Kid's Zone

It is a priority of LPS to provide this service for families, but we will only do so when informed by local health officials that it is safe and appropriate.  When a decision has been made to re-open this service, it will be communicated to families.

    2020-2021 Kindergarten Enrollment/Kindergarten Round-up

For families in our district who have an incoming kindergartner set to enter our district this fall, Virtual Kindergarten Round-Up presentations have been made available on our website.  These presentations can be accessed by clicking here.
