•                           Gary Majors - Director of Safety and Security

    GARY MAJORSGary has served as the LPS Director of Safety and Security since 2015. He retired from the Kansas City MO Police Department after 28 years of service. During his time with the KCPD he worked in Violent Crimes, Tactical Response (SWAT), Patrol, Planning and Research, Budget and Capital Improvements. He retired with the rank of Major.

  • Kim TrueKim True - Internal Security Supervisor, Liberty High School

    Kim became part of the LPS security team in 2016, and is currently assigned as a security supervisor. Before LPS, Kim worked as a Deputy for the Platte County Sheriff’s Department for 8 years before moving to the Kansas City Police Department. She worked for KCPD for 12 years, and was assigned to several units, including Patrol and as an Undercover Detective in the Vice and Narcotics Division. 

  • Curt AubreyCurt Aubrey- Internal Security Officer, Liberty High School

    Curt has been part of the LPS security team since August 2022. Curt is assigned to Liberty High School as the evening shift Internal Security Officer. Curt completed 25 years of military service as an Army Ranger, leading special operations worldwide as directed by the National Command Authority. 

  • Jennifer Benda

    Jennifer Benda-Internal Security Supervisor, Liberty North High School 

    Jennifer is returning to Liberty North High School for her second year. Jennifer worked 20 years in law enforcement as a Deputy Probation Officer with the San Mateo County Probation Department in California. She retired in 2021 and most recently has served as the Regional Training Coordinator for the Missouri Department of Corrections.

     

     

  • Chris Shores

    Christopher Shores-Internal Security Officer, Liberty North High School 

    Chris is a new member of the LPS security team. Chris has experience as a Park Ranger and held armed security positions with the Raytown school district, Titan and Homeland Security. 



     

  • Chip TaylorChip Taylor - Internal Security Officer, Liberty Academy

    Chip returns for his second year with the LPS security team. Chip has over 25 years of law enforcement experience. He worked for the Kansas City Police Department, where he worked in several different units, including Homicide, Drug Unit, Central Patrol, and he retired with the rank of Sergeant, assigned to the Property Crimes Investigations Unit at the Shoal Creek Patrol Division. 

  • Kyle Hamline - Internal Security Officer, Discovery Middle School

    Kyle is a new member of the LPS security team. Kyle served the Liberty Police Department for 27 years before retiring. Kyle has worked in Accident Investigations, as a Detective, and as a School Resource Officer  (SRO) for 14 years.  

  • Matt TaylorMatt Taylor- Internal Security Officer, Liberty Middle School

    Matt Taylor is a new member of the LPS security team. Matt has over 28 years of law enforcement experience with the Kansas City Police Department. Matt has worked with the Tactical Response Team, Property Crimes and, most recently, was a Sergeant assigned to the K9 Division. 

  • Ben OrthBen Orth - Internal Security Officer, Heritage Middle School

    Ben returns for his second year with the LPS security team. Ben worked as a reserve Deputy with Jackson County Sheriff's Department for a year and worked for 4 years as a Private Investigator. 

  • Shane Harrison

    Johnny Harrison - Internal Security Officer, South Valley Middle School

    Johnny returns for his second year on the security team.  Johnny has worked in law enforcement for over 26 years and recently retired as a Patrol Sergeant with Watauga Texas Police Department.

  • Ed ScarboroghEd Scarborough - Internal Security Officer, Alexander Doniphan Elementary

    Robert is a new member of the LPS security team. Robert previously worked for the Clay County Sheriff’s Department and Pleasant Valley Police Department before retiring. Robert’s experience working with kids as an umpire and referee will support him in his new role. 

     

  • Jacob SchwandtJacob Schwandt - Internal Security Officer, EPIC Elementary

    Jacob has been part of the LPS security team since 2021, and most recently worked as an Internal Security Officer at Liberty Middle School. Prior to coming to LPS, Jacob worked as a Police Officer with the Liberty Missouri Police Department for 3 years as a patrol officer. 

  • Paul HartkePaul Hartke - Internal Security Officer, Franklin Elementary

    Paul is a new member of the LPS security team. Paul worked for the Kansas City Police Department for 25 years before retiring. Throughout his law enforcement career, Paul worked Patrol, Field Training Officer and spent 20 years as a detective in Property Crimes.  

     

  • Tom HammondTom Hammond- Internal Security Officer, Kellybrook Elementary 

    Tom is a new member of the LPS security team. Tom has over 25 years of law enforcement experience.  Before his retirement, Tom worked for the Kansas City Police Department and served as a Domestic Violence, Sex Crimes, and Homicide detective. 



     

  • Ray StaleyRay Staley- Internal Security Officer, Lewis and Clark Elementary

    Ray is a new member of the LPS security team. Ray retired from the Kansas City Police Department in 2021 after 30 years. While employed with KCPD, Ray worked in several units, including Drug Enforcement, Gang Squad, and as a Homicide detective.  

     

  • Ron ReillyRon Reilly- Internal Security Officer, Liberty Oaks Elementary

    Ron is a new member of the LPS security team. Ron has over 35 years of law enforcement experience. He has worked for the Kansas City Police Department, where he was assigned to Traffic Enforcement and Traffic Investigations. He most recently was the Captain of the Metropolitan Community College Police Department. 

  • Shawn Bloss

    Shawn Bloss - Internal Security Officer, Lillian Schumacher Elementary

    Shawn is a new member of the LPS security team. Shawn has over 20 years of law enforcement experience. Shawn previously worked for the Clinton and Jackson County Sheriff’s offices before retiring from the Independence Police Department, where he served as a patrol and Crisis Intervention Officer.  



     

  • Shawn NicholsShawn Nichols- Internal Security Officer, Manor Hill Elementary

    Shawn is a returning Internal Security officer. Shawn served on the Kansas City Police Department for 29 years and retired as a captain. Shawn has worked in various units, including the Robbery Unit, sergeant for Crimes Against Children, and was a commander over multiple special operations.  

  • Gale HallGale Hall- Internal Security Officer, Ridgeview Elementary

    Gale is a new member of the LPS security team. Gale retired from the Kansas City Police Department  after 28 years. Gale held positions with SWAT, Internal Affairs, Street Narcotics, and most recently, Kansas City NO Violence Alliance (KC NOVA).  

     

  • Kelly EadsKelly Eads- Internal Security Officer, Warren Hills Elementary

    Kelly is a new member of the LPS security team. Kelly came to us after working at the City of Lenexa Police Department for 13 years. While working for the City of Lenexa, Kelly was a detective in the Drug Enforcement Unit and a traffic and warrant officer. 



     

  • Todd Stoker- Internal Security Officer, Shoal Creek Elementary

    Todd is a new member of the LPS security team. Todd has over 25 years of law enforcement experience. During his time at the Kansas City Police Department, he spent time mentoring youth in schools and facilitated Lead to Read and the Explorer’s program.  



     

  • Brodie OrthBrodie Orth- Internal Security Officer, Mobile

    Brodie has worked with the LPS security team since 2019. Brodie has 9 years of service in law enforcement. He worked 7 years as a Deputy for the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department as a investigator and then moved to the Platte County Sheriff’s Department where he was a patrol, Deputy.

    Thad Seever - Internal Security Officer, Mobile

    Thad returns for his second year with the LPS security team. Thad has been in law enforcement for 25 years and recently retired from the Kansas City, MO, Police Department. While working for KCPD, he had the opportunity to work as a patrol officer, field supervisor, and retired as a Captain assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit. 

     

  • Becky WaggonerBecky Waggoner - Internal Security Supervisor, Mobile

    Becky has been with the LPS security team since 2016 and currently serves as a security supervisor. During her time at LPS she has worked at Liberty Academy, LNHS, and LHS. She worked for the St. Joseph Police Department for 20 years. During her career she worked as a Field Training Officer, Patrol Sergeant, Training Coordinator and retired as the sergeant of the Professional Standards Division in 2016.
