    LPS COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM - 18 Days Left!!

    Community Scholarship Lab! Get assistance from counselors with applying for LPS Community Scholarships. Come to the LMC, Room 301, during Liberty Hour, on Wednesdays in January. The deadline for this program is February 1st!

    The Liberty Community Scholarship Program is made up of scholarships given through the generosity of 40+ local organizations. All seniors from LHS and LNHS are eligible to apply; all organizations accept the same single application! Each scholarship will be awarded to seniors from LHS and/or LNHS. Scholarship awards average $1,000 each. Over $190,000 and 97 awards were given last May. The submission deadline is 4pm on February 1, 2019. See the Process Guide for instructions on how to apply!     KC SCHOLARS SCHOLARSHIPS

    KC Scholars is excited to share a great scholarship opportunity for current 9th and 11th graders, as well as adults, looking to return to college to complete their degree.

    The KC Scholars scholarship application opened on January 1, 2019 and the deadline to apply is March 1, 2019.  There are 3 scholarships to select from.

    1. Traditional Scholarship – For current 11th graders – at least 250 students selected to receive up to a $10,000. Scholarships are renewable for up to 5 years.
    2. College Savings Account/Match Scholarship - For current 9th graders - Up to 500 students selected to receive $50 in a 529 college savings account and at least 50 students selected to receive up to $7,000 of match and incentive funds.
    3. Adult Learner Scholarship – For adults with some college but no degree – Starting in

    2019, adults who have an associate degree and will return to complete a bachelor’s degree – up to 200 selected to receive up to a $5,000 scholarship renewable for up to 5 years.

    FAFSA FRENZY

    Any senior that has not filled out the FAFSA yet is encouraged to attend the FAFSA Frenzy on January 22 at Maple Woods Community College. You will meet in the Computing Business building, Room 105, any time from 2pm to 8pm. Bring your 2017 W-2 forms and tax returns. This is a free event providing professional assistance in filling out the FAFSA.

    KC TECH ACADEMY & EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAMS

    KC TECH ACADEMY

    Applications are now available in the counseling office for students interested in applying to attend the KC Tech Academy next year. The application process includes 3 major steps to be considered:

    1. Fill out the paper application available in counseling.
    2. Fill out the Metropolitan Community College (MCC) application available online at www.mcckc.edu.
    3. Receive a qualifying test score on the ACT or Accuplacer test. ALL steps are required to be completed by February 15. Students are invited to attend the Accuplacer Testing field trip on February 8. The Accuplacer is a free placement exam provided at Maple Woods Community College. Permission slips are due January 30 to counseling. Students MUST have a MCC student ID to attend the trip.

    LPS EARLY COLLEGE PROGRAM

    The Early College Program will be offered next year at LPS for juniors and seniors. Selected students will have an opportunity to attend Maple Woods Community College and earn high school and college credit next year! Students will attend both LHS and Maple Woods during the school day. The application process includes the following steps:

    1. Fill out the LPS Early College application located on the counseling website under Early College.

    Early College Program

    Learn about the new LPS partnership with MCC – Maple Woods which allows students to attend Maple Woods Community College to earn college credit while still enrolled in at LHS. A limited number of juniors and seniors may apply. Transportation will be provided each afternoon. For information about this program choose one of the following events to attend:

    • December 11 at 6 PM and 6:45 PM in the Little Theatre (no registration necessary)
    • December 12 at 1 PM in the cafeteria. Register here.

     

    Career Connections @ LHS

    Would you like to meet with professionals from a career that interests you?  Here at LHS, we hold several Career Connections events throughout the year and invite experts to our school to talk with you in a round table setting.
