    Northland Center for Advanced Professional Studies (Northland CAPS) provides high school students in the Northland with a professional, innovative, and entrepreneurial education through full immersion in high demand/high skill careers. The information night is for parents and students interested in this opportunity for the 2019-2020 school year. The meeting will be held at Liberty North High School at 6:30 PM on Tuesday, November 13.




    Applications have opened for a Garmin High School Internship program! High School Interns will work at Garmin Headquarters, approximately 2.5 hours a day, 4 days a week, during the spring 2019 academic semester. All Interns will be placed with a mentor and get hands-on experience while learning about Garmin business segments and developing their professional skills. Semester Internships are education-focused and unpaid. Applications for Software Engineers and Design (Electrical) Engineers will be accepted via careers.garmin.com through November 16th. Selected candidates will be contacted for interviews.

    Interested students must complete and return the Student Registration Form, available in the Counseling Office, by December 7, 2018. The workshop will be held at the Kauffman Conference Center, 4801 Rockhill Road, Kansas City, MO, Friday, January 18, 2019 from 8 AM - 1:45 PM. This year’s theme is “Defending Democracy, Advancing Justice and Making Peace!”




    ACT Bootcamp
    Tues. Nov 20, 7:45 AM - 2 PM at Excelsior Springs Area Career Center. Lunch provided for $6 or bring your own. Other than lunch cost, the event is free. ESCAA ACT Bootcamp will introduce students to test-taking tips for math, English and reading. Identify successful test taking strategies and familiarize students with what to expect on ACT. Student must bring an ACT approved calculator, writing utensil, and headphones.

    Career center Bus Tour
    Are you interested in the Career Centers next year? Take part in a tour of both career centers on Friday, November 30. Pick up a permission slip in the Counseling Office and return it on or before November 20.

    KC Tech Academy
    KC Tech Academy offers a two-year training program for high school students to earn a high school diploma and certification in manufacturing technologies, automation, and robotics. A tour of KC tech is open to current 10th & 11th grades on November 27. Pick up a permission slip from the Counseling Office and return it completed on or before November 20.

    Representatives from various colleges as well as all the branches of the military regularly visit LHS. Students are able to sign up to meet with representatives during class times in the Counseling Office. This is a great time to ask questions about admissions, career paths, financial aid, application deadlines, costs, scholarships, A+ acceptance and much much more!

    Career Connections @ LHS

    Would you like to meet with professionals from a career that interests you?  Here at LHS, we hold several Career Connections events throughout the year and invite experts to our school to talk with you in a round table setting.
