South Valley Middle School students in accordance with the LPS strategic planning goal that "Every student will graduate college and career ready" begin the career exploration process. Each grade has various activities that help in that exploration.
Students will use a program called Naviance: Family Connection which is their career exploration portfolio. Students have an individual password and can use the program to explore and save information such as career interest, college/technical school interest, resume material, course planning, and much more. Students may click the picture below to sign in to their Naviance: Family Connection account.

7th Grade Shadow Search Day
On Groundhog Day, February 2nd, 7th grade students will participate in a career fair where they will get to visit with career professionals from many different career fields. This takes place during school hours and is an excellent way to get acquainted with careers and businesses. More information will be shared with students prior to fair.
Students have access to other various career programming opportunities as available. This may include occasional career speakers from the field, NCAPS student speakers, career center tour field trips, and various community career programming field trips. Due to limited spots, many of these opportunities are for 8th graders, and students are selected based on the Naviance career survey results in both 7th and 8th grade.
