Welcome to Liberty Public Schools Nutrition Services
(Washington, DC, August 31, 2020) – Today, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) will extend several flexibilities through December 31, 2020. The flexibilities allow meal program operators to continue serving free meals to all children into the fall months. This unprecedented move will help ensure children have access to nutritious food as the country recovers from the COVID-19 pandemic.
In short, LPS will continue to provide free meals to all learners during the first semester of the 2020-2021 school year. We ask that parents and students continue to pre-order lunch meals through the SchoolCafe website or app to allow choice in hot or cold meals for students, to provide safety to allergy students as well as to ensure a system to social distance at lunch time in their school. Breakfast meals do not need to be pre-ordered.
The Nutrition Services team for the Liberty Public School District is represented by a staff of over 120 well trained, dedicated women and men. We provide high quality, nutritionally balanced, and affordable breakfast and lunches to more than 12,000 students daily across our district. Join your student for breakfast or lunch to see what we are all about!
The Liberty Education Foundation has launched a fundraising effort to pay off meal debt accrued by Liberty Public Schools families throughout the district who now qualify for free or reduced meals. LPS is committed to serving all students a breakfast and lunch so that learning is always first priority in our students minds. To help continue to provide these meals to all, your donation is appreciated!
Graduating seniors with account balances may also donate the remaining balance to this fund! Call our office at 736-5375 to complete this step. Click the link to learn more about the Liberty Cares Fund or to donate! https://libertyeducationfoundation.org/studentmeals
