Attention 8th graders!
We are sending out an invite to students to join the National Junior Honor Society. You will be required to have a 3.5 grade average during the school year, served in a leadership capacity, volunteered for community service and not have received an OSS (out of school suspension, ISS (in-school suspension) or EDS (extended day school).
National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) is an organization that not only focuses on students’ academic success; but their excellence in service, leadership, character, and citizenship. With the support of teachers, parents and the Liberty community, NJHS strives to encourage academic excellence and strength of character in South Valley Middle School students.
Applications for NJHS will begin on Monday, Sept. 28 - Friday, October 9 for all 8th graders. It can be found on the SVMS website under activities and clubs. You must fill out an application to be considered for membership and provide the names of two teachers who would endorse your membership. Please write in a teacher’s name on the form instead of getting signatures this year. We will be checking with teachers about your activities and their recommendations for you to join NJHS. We will be doing several projects during the school year to help fulfill the community service requirements.
Applications must be uploaded or scanned to our email by Friday, October 16. We do not want paper copies given to us. You will receive a letter and an invitation to be part of the virtual induction ceremony when accepted into the NJHS.
NJHS Virtual Induction Ceremony will be sent out to families on Thursday, November 19 @ 7 pm. It is an honor to be part of this society that is respected by community members, employers, military and scholarship committees.
