Traumatic Blood Loss Protocol: At Liberty Public Schools, the safety of our students, staff, and visitors is our highest priority. To ensure our campuses are prepared for any crisis, we have enhanced our emergency response protocols regarding severe bleeding, in accordance with Missouri state law (SB 68 and RSMo 160.485). While we hope these measures are never needed, our schools are now better equipped and trained to act quickly, decisively, and effectively to protect lives.

What This Means for Our Schools:

Accessible Trauma  Kits : Every building across the district is now equipped with dedicated Bleeding Control Kits, located near all Automated External Defibrillator (AED) cabinets. Placed in these highly visible, accessible locations, these kits are stocked with critical emergency supplies—such as tourniquets, specialized bandages, and gloves—giving our campuses the tools needed to manage severe injuries effectively until first responders arrive.

Staff Training : Our Health Services team undergoes comprehensive training every year to maintain life-saving trauma response skills. This hands-on preparation ensures staff can confidently utilize the kits and act quickly using three critical techniques: applying direct pressure to a wound, packing a wound, and properly applying a tourniquet when appropriate.
