9 LPS Students Named 2025 National Merit Semifinalists
Please join Liberty High School and Liberty North High School in recognizing the following students for qualifying as semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program.
This is a highly competitive academic competition students qualify for by taking the PSAT/NMSQT test during their junior year.
These students have the opportunity to continue in the competition to become a National Merit Scholarship recipient.

Additionally, Dr. Rosemary Camp, Principal of Liberty North High School, is pleased to announce that Lena Billharz has been named Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program.
Liberty High School is home to three Commended Students in the 2025 National Merit Scholarship Program. Congratulations to Ryan Houck, Caroline Shemwell and Delaney Stokes on the honor.
A Certificate of Commendation from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC®) will be presented for this scholastic achievement.
About 34,000 Commended Students throughout the nation are being recognized for their exceptional academic promise. Although they will not continue in the 2025 competition for National Merit Scholarship awards, Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 students who entered the 2025 competition by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT®).

Kayla Nelson will perform with the Northland Symphony Orchestra in their concert at 3 p.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2024, at North Kansas City High School. Natalie Coleman and Gillian calder will also be recognized at the concert.
Liberty High School will induct its 2024 Hall of Fame class at the Homecoming football game on Friday, October 4, 2024. The class includes five outstanding alumni who continue to have an impact on the Liberty community.

Each year, families are provided an opportunity to file an application with the USDA to determine whether they might qualify for free or reduced lunch status.
At the Tuesday evening, September 17, 2024, Board of Education meeting, the Board accepted the retirement for our longtime Director of Health Services Kathy Ellermeier, effective June 30, 2025.
