LHS Wrestling Claims 5th Straight State Title
The Liberty High School boys wrestling secured its fifth consecutive state championship title on Saturday, February 24, 2024, in Columbia, Missouri.
It is also the fifth state title in program history.
Along with the overall team title, several wrestlers took home individual titles in their weight classes:
- Hunter Taylor - 120 lbs.
- Gavin Linsman - 150 lbs.
- Peyton Westpfahl - 175 lbs.
- Isaiah Hung - 215 lbs.
On the girls side, Sandy Breeden also took home an individual state title in the 105 lbs. weight class.

Several Liberty Public Schools students are being recognized for their fine arts talents. Dozens of students will be representing the district as members of the All-State Band, Orchestra, Choir, Children's Choir and All-State Theater performance.
Incumbents Karen Rogers and Dan Currence were the only individuals to apply, meaning that with two positions available, there will not be a need for an election in April.
The Ayrie yearbook from Liberty North High School is one of only 35 yearbooks from across the entire U.S. to receive the award.
LPS has selected 16 staff members to represent the district as Excellence in Education nominees.
Liberty High School Head Football Coach Chad Frigon is the 2024 Kansas City Chiefs/Eric Driskell Coach of the Year.
