LPS Board Makes Four Leadership Appointments

Ms. Jaysa Hartman Named New Warren Hills Elementary Principal

At the regular Board of Education meeting held Monday evening, March 16, 2026, the Board appointed Ms. Jaysa Hartman as the next principal of Warren Hills Elementary.

Ms. Hartman has spent her entire career in education with Liberty Public Schools. She began as a 4th and 5th grade teacher at Ridgeview Elementary, serving from 2012 to 2022 before transitioning to an assistant principal role. She has served as an assistant principal at both Lillian Schumacher Elementary and Franklin Elementary since 2022. She has also served as a summer school site director at various campuses since 2018.

“I am incredibly honored to join the Warren Hills community in the coming school year,” said Ms. Hartman. “I look forward to building strong relationships with students, staff, and families while continuing the traditions that make Warren Hills such a special place. I’m excited to get started and proud to become a Warren Hills Wildcat.”

Ms. Hartman received her bachelor’s degree from Avila University and both her master’s and Education Specialist degrees from Northwest Missouri State University. 

“Ms. Hartman brings a strong understanding of teaching, learning, and the power of relationships,” said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning, Dr. Julie Moore. “Her leadership, experience, and dedication to students make her well-prepared to serve the Warren Hills community as its next principal.”

Ms. Hartman will succeed current Warren Hills Elementary Principal Michelle Swierski, who announced earlier this school year her intent to retire at the conclusion of the 2025–2026 school year. Ms. Hartman will begin her new role on July 1, 2026.

Board Approves New Liberty Early Childhood Center Assistant Principal

At its regular meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Liberty Public Schools Boardof Education approved the appointment of Ms. Ashley Assman as the next assistant principal of the Liberty Early Childhood Center.

Ms. Assman currently serves as an assistant principal at Shoal Creek Elementary, a position she has held since 2024. Her career in LPS began in 2020, also at Shoal 
Creek Elementary, where she served as a classroom teacher.

“Ms. Assman brings a deep understanding of early childhood development and a strong instructional foundation to this role," said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. “Through her experiences as a teacher and assistant principal at the elementary level, along with her passion for supporting our youngest learners, she is an excellent fit for the Early Childhood Center.”

Ms. Assman holds both a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University. She will officially begin her new role on July 1, 2026.

Board Approves Ms. Kali Young as Alexander Doniphan Assistant Principal

At its regular meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Liberty Public Schools Board of Education approved the appointment of Ms. Kali Young as assistant principal at Alexander Doniphan Elementary.

Ms. Young comes to LPS from the Platte County R-3 School District, where she has served as an instructional coach and K–12 district coach liaison since 2023. While in Platte County, she also spent seven years serving as an elementary assistant principal. It will be somewhat of a homecoming for Ms. Young, as she is a Liberty Public Schools resident and currently has a daughter attending Liberty High School.

“Ms. Young brings a wealth of experience in instructional leadership through her work as both an assistant principal and instructional coach,” said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning, Dr. Julie Moore. “Her ability to support teachers and focus on strong learning outcomes will be a tremendous asset to the Alexander Doniphan community.”

Ms. Young holds a bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College, a master’s degree from Rockhurst University, and an educational specialist degree from Northwest Missouri State University.

Ms. Young will officially begin her new role on July 1, 2026.

Board Approves Mr. Devin Springer as SVMS Assistant Principal

At its regular meeting on Monday, March 16, 2026, the Liberty Public Schools Board of Education approved the appointment of Mr. Devin Springer as assistant principal at South Valley Middle School.

Mr. Springer is a familiar face in LPS, having served as an English language arts teacher at both South Valley Middle School and Discovery Middle School from 2017–2020. Most recently, he has served exclusively at DMS for the past five years. His service to LPS began in 2013 when he became the junior varsity head soccer coach at Liberty High School. He has also served as an administrative intern at DMS and as a middle school summer school site director.

“Mr. Springer is an exceptional educator who exemplifies high-quality instruction and strong relationships,” said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. “We are excited to see him step into this leadership role and continue supporting students and teachers at South Valley Middle School.”

Mr. Springer holds a bachelor’s degree from Missouri State University and a master’s degree from William Woods University. He will officially begin in his new role on July 1, 2026.
