Dr. Sara Wickham Named Director of Real World Learning

At the regular Board of Education meeting held Tuesday evening, March 18, 2025, the Board appointed Dr. Sara Wickham to be the new Director of Real World Learning for Liberty Public Schools.

It will be a homecoming of sorts for Dr. Wickham, as she has spent a majority of her professional career serving students and families in LPS. She was an English Language Arts Teacher, Innovation and Learning Coach, and Assistant Principal at Liberty High School from 2006 - 2023. She has most recently served as the principal at Excelsior Springs High School the past two years.

"We are beyond excited to welcome Dr. Wickham back to LPS," said Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. "She is an innovative educator who understands the importance of providing personalized real world learning opportunities for all students".

In her new role, she will provide support to the LPS Innovation and Learning Department, with a focus on the district's priority of providing all students with real world learning experiences as part of their education journey in Liberty Public Schools. By coordinating efforts across the district, the Real World Learning Director will play a pivotal role in helping students explore their interests, develop essential employability skills, and graduate with a clear pathway to college, career, and life success.

Dr. Wickham received her Bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri - Columbia, her Master's degree from Baker University, and her Doctorate degree from William Woods University.

She will begin in her new role July 1, 2025.

Dr. Fellhauer is currently the principal at Underwood Elementary in the Lee's Summit School District, a role he has served in since 2018. Prior to that, he was an elementary principal in the Raymore-Peculiar School District for a decade (2008-2018). His career in education began in the Warrensburg School District, where he served from 2006-2008.

"I am excited to join the Liberty Public Schools administrative team and look forward to partnering with and serving the students, staff, and families of Kellybrook Elementary," said Fellhauer.  "Building strong relationships and fostering a collaborative school community are priorities for me, and I am eager to support Kellybrook's continued success. I can’t wait to get started and become a part of the LPS and Kellybrook family!"

Dr. Fellhauer received his Bachelor's degree from the University of Central Missouri, his Master of Education, Specialist, and Doctorate degrees from William Woods University.

"We are fortunate to have someone with the experience and talents of Dr. Fellhauer joining the LPS leadership team", said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. "We look forward to him continuing the great things happening at Kellybrook Elementary."

Dr. Fellhauer will succeed current Kellybrook Elementary Principal, Dr. Kayli Burrell, who accepted a position in another district earlier this year. He will begin in his new role July 1, 2025.
