At the regular Board of Education meeting held Tuesday evening, February 18, 2025, the Board appointed Dr. Alexis Stark to be the next LPS Director of Special Services.

Dr. Stark is currently the Director of Special Services in the Grandview C-4 School District, a position she has held since July 2021. Her career in education began in the Raymore-Peculiar School District where she served as a Special Education Teacher, Process Coordinator, and Administrative Intern during her eight years there.

"Dr. Stark brings high levels of expertise that will propel the Special Services Department towards new levels of success while having a positive impact on teaching and learning," said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Student Equity and Access Dr. Andrea Dixon-Seahorn.  "We are excited to have her join our team.”

Dr. Stark received both her Doctorate and Ed Specialist degrees from William Woods University, along with her Masters in Special Education from the University of Kansas. In recent years, Dr. Stark has served on several education committees, including the current president of KC-LASE, and the MO-CASE board at the state level.

Dr. Stark will officially begin in her new role July 1, 2025.
