Dr. Andy Schuerman Named Director of Special Programs

At the regular Board of Education meeting held Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, the Board appointed Dr. Andy Schuerman as the next LPS Director of Special Programs.

Dr. Schuerman currently serves as the Coordinator of Belonging in the Park Hill School District, a position he has held since 2024. He has served the Park Hill School District since 2014 in the roles of high school counselor and Coordinator of Educational Programs. Prior to this, he was a teacher and counselor in the North Kansas City School District for 13 years.

“Dr. Schuerman brings a diverse background and a wealth of relevant experience that will have a positive impact on the district-wide services and support provided to students and families by the Special Programs Department,” said LPS Assistant Superintendent of Equity and Access Dr. Andrea Dixon-Seahorn. “We are excited to have him join our leadership team here in LPS!”

Dr. Schuerman received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and his master’s, educational specialist, and doctorate degrees from the University of Missouri–Kansas City.

Dr. Schuerman will officially begin his new role on July 1, 2026, replacing Dr. Jessica Meisenheimer, who announced her resignation earlier this year.

Dr. Carrie Gabriel Named New DMS Assistant Principal

At the regular Board of Education study session meeting held Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, the Board appointed Dr. Carrie Gabriel as the next assistant principal at Discovery Middle School.

Dr. Gabriel is a familiar face at Discovery Middle School, where she currently serves as the Innovation and Learning Coach, a position she has held since August 2016. She came to Liberty Public Schools in 2001 and served as a classroom teacher for her first 15 years in LPS.

"Her years of dedication to DMS as a teacher and Innovation and Learning Coach have made a lasting impact on students and staff," said the LPS Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. "Her strong relationships, instructional leadership, and commitment to student growth make her a great addition to our administrative team."

Dr. Gabriel received her bachelor’s degree from the University of Missouri–Kansas City, her master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University, and her doctorate degree from Baker University.

Dr. Gabriel officially begins her new role on July 1, 2026. She will replace longtime DMS Assistant Principal Dr. Courtney Dickerson, who was recently announced as the new principal at Discovery Middle School.

Board Appoints New Shoal Creek Elementary Assistant Principal

At the regular Board of Education meeting held Tuesday evening, May 19, 2026, the Board appointed Mr. Joseph Eveland-Pulido as an assistant principal at Shoal Creek Elementary.

Mr. Eveland-Pulido is currently a 3rd grade teacher at Frontier School of Innovation in the Kansas City, Missouri School District. He also served as a 5th grade teacher at Guadalupe Centers Elementary for four years.

“Joseph brings incredible energy, innovation, and a strong passion for supporting students and staff,” said Assistant Superintendent of Innovation and Learning Dr. Julie Moore. “His positive leadership style and relationship-centered approach make him a great fit for the Shoal Creek community, and we are excited to welcome him to Liberty Public Schools.”

Mr. Eveland-Pulido received his bachelor’s degree from Rockhurst University and his master’s degree from Northwest Missouri State University.

He will begin his new role at Shoal Creek Elementary on July 1, 2026.
