Mickelson named best male HS golfer in KC
Liberty North High School Class of 2025's Caden Mickelson was honored with the Kenneth Smith Award on Thursday, July 3, 2025.
The award is presented annually to both a Greater Kansas City Area high school male and female golfer. It requires excellence in golf performance, academic achievement, leadership and community service.
No Liberty Public Schools golf player has been presented with the Kenneth Smith award in its 26 years of existence until Caden.
In his senior year at LNHS, Mickelson won five of nine tournaments and placed second in three. He won the district tournament with a score of 68 and placed second at the state tournament with a 66 and a 69.
Through his high school years, Caden placed fifth, first, second and then second at State. He also holds multiple MSHSAA records and has been All-State, All-Conference and All-District every one of the four years.
Mickelson will continue his educational and golf careers at the University of Nebraska in the fall.
