Board of Education

The Liberty Board of Education is a representative body elected by the registered voters of the Liberty 53 School District of Clay County.  It is the purpose and the role of the Board of Education to exercise general supervision over the schools of the district, and to ensure that the schools are maintained as provided by the state statutes, the rules and procedures of the Missouri State Board of Education and/or the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the policies, rules and procedures of the school district.  

Board of Education meetings are held on the first Tuesday at 7:00 a.m. and third Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at the Liberty School District Administration Center.

The Liberty Public Schools Board of Education is composed of seven members. Public elections are held every April and seats are up for election on a rotating schedule.

The Missouri School Board Association is the guiding agency for the Board of Education. The LPS Board of Education has earned the Governance Award from MSBA, one of the highest distinctions.

Regular Board of Education Meetings are recorded and provided not only on our district's cable outlet, KLPS-TV Channel 18, but also uploaded on our YouTube page. Meeting's air daily on Channel 18 at 8 a.m. and are typically made available by the Thursday following the Tuesday meeting.
