Sapphires are State Champions Again

On Saturday, February 29, 2020, the Liberty High School Sapphires won the Division 6 Missouri State Championship Title.  Competing against sixteen dance teams in Division 6, the Sapphires earned a first place finish in the pom category and a 1st place finish in the lyrical jazz category.  The two scores from both routines were then combined to give the team the overall high point of the day and securing the Division 6 Missouri State Championship Title.  This is the ninth state title for the Sapphire program.  
 
In addition to the hours the Sapphires put into rehearsals, dancers were individually recognized as members of the All-Academic Team.  (Please note, freshmen members are exempt from this honor.)  All-Academic Winners Include:  Storm Alicie, Taygen Brown, Annika Foust, Natalya Knoke, Katie Mackie, Morgan Magel, Kellen Reeve, Danielle Roepke, Valencia Trombino and Keegan Ward.  Foust, Knoke, Magel and Roepke were all awarded medals for their impressive 4.0 grade point average.
 
Ranked 1st in the state and 2nd in the nation, the 2019-2020 Liberty Sapphires include:  Storm Alicie, Taygen Brown, Alana Bryson, Olivia DiGiovanni, Annika Foust, Sterling Hixson, Natayla Knoke, Katie Mackie, Morgan Magel, Kate Marshall, Reese McFather, Kellen Reeve, Danielle Roepke, Marcella Trombino, Valencia Trombino, Lucy Vitug and Keegan Ward.  The team is coached by Maggie Willis.
