In a surprise virtual online meeting Tuesday morning, April 28, 2020, Liberty Public Schools announced that longtime Kid's Zone Site Supervisor at Shoal Creek Elementary, Ms. Josie Kirk, has been selected as the LPS 2020-2021 SupportEmployee of the Year.
Ms. Kirk has been a loyal member of the Liberty Public Schools team for the past nineteen years, all of them spent at Shoal Creek Elementary. She has served in her current role as Site Supervisor for Kid's Zone for the past fifteen years.
"Ms. Josie is the true meaning of a servant leader," said Nancy Hillebrand, LPS Program Manager - School Age Care. "She not only takes that extra time with her students, she dedicates just as much time with the parents to put them at ease."
Kirk becomes the eleventh LPS SupportEmployee of the Year recipient since the program was developed in 2010 and the first staff member from the Kid's Zone program to receive the recognition.
"Today not only provides us with an opportunity to raise up and celebrate the work of Josie, but it also gives us that chance to thank and celebrate the hundreds of support staff in our system that are committed to serving our learners," said LPS Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Tucker. "We cannot thank each of them enough for their contributions to LPS".
