Dr. Vogelaar Announces Retirement from LPS

At the Wednesday, June 8, 2022, Board of Education closed session meeting, the Board accepted the retirement of Dr. Robert Vogelaar, effective June 30, 2022.

Dr. Vogelaar has served as the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources since 2008. Prior to joining the district's cabinet, he was appointed to assist in the opening of South Valley Middle School as the building's first assistant principal in 2002, and then was elevated to lead principal in 2004.
"We thank Dr. Vogelaar for his loyal and dedicated service to Liberty Public Schools," LPS Superintendent Dr. Jeremy Tucker said. "He has proven over his tenure in LPS that he has been committed to making decisions that are in the best interest of our students, staff, and greater community. While we never like to say goodbye to a valued member of our team, we certainly wish him the best in his new adventure."
Dr. Vogelaar has accepted a position to serve as a professor at Saint Louis University, beginning this fall. He shared that he and his family do plan to continue residing in Liberty, and they look forward to following the many great things taking place in LPS.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve LPS and the community these past twenty years," Vogelaar said. "The people I have had the chance to work with over that time have been an inspiration to me, both as an educator and as a parent of children in our schools."
A plan that will include appropriate coverage within the human resources department will be shared in the coming weeks as LPS prepares for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year.
