Clay County Public Health Announcement

Earlier this week, the Clay County Public Health Center announced that Clay County will begin requiring face masks and coverings to be worn in all indoor areas of public accommodation, effective Sunday, July 19, 2020. This includes schools and daycares within the county.  LPS will now adhere to this requirement beginning with our summer school session on Monday, July 20, and until further notice. More information regarding this announcement can be found on the Clay County Public Health Center website.   Below you will find a few important details as it relates to students wearing masks during their remaining summer school school experience.
  • Per Clay County Public Health Center Amended Order dated July 14, 2020, all staff, all students, all visitors, and all vendors are required to wear a proper cloth face covering when in a District facility or using District transportation.  As an exception, the covering may be removed when the individual is in a setting in which social distancing can clearly be maintained for an extended period of time.
  • Students will need to bring their own masks with them to school.  If a student would forget or lose their mask, a disposable mask will be provided.
  • LPS will always follow safety policies and procedures while students and staff are at  school.  This county requirement released this week is considered a safety guideline and will be adhered to by district staff and students
Thank you for partnering with us as we continue our commitment to keeping our students and staff safe while at school.
Have a great upcoming weekend!
